At a BB and after review and bonus clear that there’s no future for me in group. Weighing some offers (banking and other exits) but wondering if asking to be laid off to maybe spare others is something that would be considered by HR/COO. Any insight appreciated.
Correct, I am weighing other offers. Of course I consider myself fortunate, but overall wanted to stay in banking for at least a year or two more for comp. Don’t come from money by any means. Asking for layoff would be to collect some extra money via severance, but more importantly, hopefully spare others that don’t have jobs ready.
Yep i missed that. but the logic remains the same: people generally don't ask to be laid off. They would be idiots to grant your request because it suggests you were about to leave anyway.
A while back, a certain BB was doing major layoffs and they started offering a package/deal, of some moderate offer to those who might consider leaving.
The idea was that a person could take that offered deal, or they could stick around and risk whether they would be included in the next batch of layoffs.
I wouldn't go around offering yourself like that; but if you are seeking an out, wait for when the cards are being dealt, to decide what hand to play.
I agree with other comments here, it's a lot harder when unemployed, and you want to avoid that. Good luck.

“To spare some other” is a nice way of asking if you can still get some severance when the exit is already lining up. Could have been more direct there, but appreciate the good will :D
And yes if your bank is laying off there will likely be sweeteners for people they want to let go anyways (to keep their esteem) and those that want to go sooner or later anyways.
It is wild to offer yourself up proactively. The reasonable question anyone you are trying to have this convo with is “why not just quit?”…and then you will have to explain you simply want a payout. You have no leverage to get a payout, except the implicit threat that you will have shitty work quality if they keep you there. Pretty awkward threat to be tiptoeing around.
Why not quiet quit in a way that isn’t quiet? Just indicate to staffer or others that you plan to do the bare minimum. That will get you fired.
But please only do this if you have another offer lined up and it’s guaranteed

Lol. Just say you’re at BofA
every minute you still have a job is precious. put your job search into overdrive now. it will become significantly harder when you’re unemployed.
if you ask to be laid off, they may assume you will leave anyway without them having to pay severance
Didn't he say he's "weighing offers"?

Keep farting loud in the office until they're fed up, they will fire you.
When I mean loud, do the one that you squeeze your hole to rip one out as explosive & reverberating as possible, like pre-shit fart in the toilet.
Has anyone done this before? What’s the minimum severance
I have a friend following me around the sub, maybe he can help. Doubt he got any severance whatsoever being a bottom bucket however
