assoc level interview
Hi everyone
I would appreciate any advice on what to expect for associate-level interview. I summered at a different firm.
I know I should know the deals i worked on, and I am interested in how much other technical questions i should expect, if any. thanks in advance for your inputs
I have been through a few of these. I have summer IBD experience at the associate level, so all of my interviews pretty much solely focused on that experience. As far as techs go, I was virtually asked none, but maybe that's because just talking about my summer experience and resume showed competencies.
Interviewer: "Tell me about your summer IB experience."
Me: "The first half of the summer was spent on XYZ deal and misc. tasks"
Interviewer: "How big was XYZ deal"?
Me: "Company did X in revenue, EBITDA was Y."
Interviewer: "What type of company was it"?
Me: "Company's primary source of revenue came from manufacturing X. I also wrote a CIM and Pitchbook"
Interviewer: "What was in the CIM"?
You get the point... I was never asked to go into stuff like walk me through a DCF, what is cost of equity, whatever... It can vary, but I think they assume you know this stuff if you are being considered for an associate position.
Great..thanks!
One more thing--need to know industry multiples/ trend /recent transactions? I guess it wouldn't hurt to know but was curious...
