Associates / VPs either send my work via e-mail when done well or ask me to send work to Srs. if it's going out late

How do you navigate mid levels from taking advantage of their seniority over you and manipulating you to do things that either a) give them credit when things are good or b) shove blame when things are bad?

I'm not really able to send stuff if the associate can claim they didn't review it / know. Can you really say no to a VP if they "harmlessly" ask you to send something due 5 hours ago at 1 am in the evening?

What do I do here?
