They are growing pretty fast through acquisitions and hiring, like the most recent moves you mentioned above. They aren't a solid MM yet (most deals below $300m EV) but I imagine they’ll start punching at that weight soon

 

Disagree with the positive comments above. Had to deal with B Riley on a couple SPAC deals and thought they sucked. Made no effort to understand the company targets, poor selection of accounts to call on, awful yield as a result, and poor client interaction - no ownership of results. And this was when every SPAC PIPE was being bought up in a heartbeat. Maybe just a bad draw but on an n of 2, would not recommend to my clients.

 

Has a terrible reputation in terms of deal flow and quality relative to similar sized banks. FocalPoint was an ok lower MM group, but several top MDs have recently left for other banks (HC, Business Services, etc.), so expect the deal flow to get worse before it gets better. Huron added nothing of note.

Also check with prior bankers there. Decent place to start to lateral as a junior, but I've heard shitty culture (someone now at MM) and below street pay.
