Background check at elite boutiques more strict than BB?

Hey guys. Long time lurker here. Currently at BB but looking to quit on Monday. I have an offer as lateral from a top boutique (Lazard/Evercore/Moelis) pending background check. I am stressing out as it's been few days already and haven't heard back.

I have a DUI misdemeanor dating 9 years ago when I wasn't even 21 yet that the BB never cared for. Is it true that elite boutiques have very strict background checks compared to most BB?

I heard a rumor of some VP at JPM attempting to lateraling to Evercore a few months back and having his offer pulled during background check (don't know the reason) after he had already quit JPM. Do you think it would have been due to something new or something that JPM didn't care for but Evercore did?

I have the same problem. Wish mine was that long ago however. I wish I could tell you what they would do, but I can tell you with almost 100% certainty do not leave it off the application. That is grounds for dismissal. Just disclose it and you should be ok. Some guys think well it should have come off my record or it wasn't a 'real crime' like my Dad says. It is a real crime and its on your record so don't hide it. They most likely won't care.
