Baird Tampa

How is Baird Tampa viewed? I know they are technically part of the industrials group, but cover distribution companies. They have solid deal flow and are likely overlooked based on location. Can anyone speak to the culture, and where it ranks compared to other MM shops and groups within Baird?

- Lean team that has been absolutely crushing it the last few years in particular and are viewed as the "go to" distribution experts among the PE universe

- Strong track record of direct promotion for top performers - everyone on the team, including senior and mid-level bankers, started as analysts at Baird

- No voluntary turnover in 4-5 years

- Culture is very strong and unique... part of their secret sauce

- Focus on efficiency, though still grind significantly given the high level of deal activity

- Very collaborative from what I've seen, with mid and senior level bankers getting in the PowerPoint directly to crank out slides when capacity is tight

- Have transitioned from focusing on multi-hundred to ~$500m deals to now regularly completing >$1B deals

From my perspective, they are a top group at Baird.

Difficult to compare to those other banks, as RJ doesn't have a distribution practice and the Stifel office in Tampa is quite new. If the question is if Baird Tampa completes more and larger deals, then the answer would be yes.

Hard to compare RayJay vs Baird Tampa.  The Baird team is one of the strongest in the firm and the main player in their space, but it's also a satellite office with very few junior bankers. Baird is definitely stronger, but if you don't have a network in Tampa, RayJay might be a better situation if you care at all about your social life. I wouldn't consider Stifel over the other two.

Baird just raised salaries:

An: 115

AO: 200

VP: 250

Bonuses are in-line with / higher than most, if not all BBs. EB tend to pay higher though.
