Can someone explain the difference between working for a balance sheet bank vs a non like I’m 5? How they run, what they do, the work experience , etc.

Big balance sheet = have lots of money… big strong bank. big strong bank have too much money in the safe, and money in the safe doesnt turn into more money. So we take money out of big strong safe and lend it to people with the expectation they give us extra money in return. Non balance sheet banks = no have lots of money… small puny bank. Small puny bank need to make money somehow, so they advise on “M&A” instead
