Hi, I'm a student at a target that's been networking with some guys in BAML's Capital Market division, specifically in their Global Rates and Currencies in NYC. Would this technically be considered an investment banking summer analyst role? What are the advantages/disadvantages of this group for more traditional IB roles?

Nope. Advantage: it's cap markets at a BB and you have a chance to earn a lot if you convert. Disadvantage: it's not IB.
