Going forward ML and MS will follow the GS model in IBD i.e. no more M&A team.. which makes sense those bunch of cost centre dudes .. i.e. every sector coverage team will execute their own M&A so I would take an industry group you are interested in..
When will this happen and what will happen to the M&A groups? Seems like a process that may take awhile and it also doesn't seem like banks will let go a large number of M&A bankers considering it is a more competitive group to get into which attracts top talent. Will they just be spread to coverage groups?
Yes spread to coverage groups indeed.. its already being rolled out at MS now..
Industrials at baml isn't anything special.

GS and Citi industrials are where its at.

There is no more Citi industrials and there hasn't been for years - they fired everyone a couple of years ago
