Banks that Offer International Mobility
Does anyone know of any banks that support employees moving overseas (from US to Europe/Asia) for 1-2 years or even more? I'd imagine it's easier at a BB like a Goldman because of the global footprint, but what about smaller boutiques like a Lazard or Rothschild given the strength of their international practices?
Does anyone have any familiarity with this and what does the process look like? Thanks!

It’s not as easy as you think at any bank to switch countries, some BBs support it, I think Citi and JPM are the most supportive from what I’ve heard. I imagine EBs are really hard because they run a lot leaner teams.
Especially as an A2A, GS is incredibly supportive of this kind of move (within IB). Interesting setup as your original seat is "reserved" for a year, so you can do your first associate year in a different location and if you decide you want to come back, it's (supposed to be) that easy.
I've heard similar things about GS as well. Do you know how difficult it is to move on A2A at GS? And does the same support apply if you want to move to the MBD team?
Citi very supportive.
Know from an S&T JPM guy it's not as easy. Went from London to HK.
I think it goes without saying that you gotta be a top performer if you wanna switch offices!
Lincoln International is pretty supportive. Have seen employees move offices after a year or so (assuming they speak the country’s native language).
That’s super interesting. I’m doing a diversity program for them soon and would love to live abroad at some point.
Not sure if it's still around but they let you spend your A3 year abroad if you're sticking around for A2A
At a Rothschild info session, they said going to a different office (including international) was an option even if temporarily.
You sure? I think there are tax and Visa considerations.
Anyone know about BofA in this regard?
Super easy. Know at least 4-5 2nd years who went to Europe as A2As. I even know one who wasn’t a top performer, but rather middle bucket.
Thanks. Do you need to be a top performer / not bottom bucket to make a move?
Lazard has a program specifically for this and encourages it, but it’s directed more at a senior associate junior VP level.
