FIG is highly specialized. There are a good number of PE and hedge funds that operate within the space though.
Industrials, BarCap FIG is still rebuilding after they got poached pretty heavily during the death of LeBros! Industrials will give you a range of skills that you can apply to a number of other groups, FIG is less transferable.
eh..remember that FIG also includes cash flow-finance services companies which are easy to lbo, model, etc.
