Barclays (IB) Visa Sponsorship - Eligibility For International Students

Anyone know if Barclays sponsors CPT/OPT visas for international students this cycle? I tried looking every relevant forums on WSO but nothing explicit pops up. Can someone please advice if I would be eligible to intern at Barc within IB as an international student needing future work authorization (H1B) based sponsorship?

Thank you!

Based on the highest ranked content on WSO, Barclays has been mentioned in the context of visa sponsorship for international students. Here are some key points:

  • Visa Sponsorship: Barclays, along with other bulge bracket banks (BBs), tends to be supportive of international analysts who do not get the H1-B visa by transferring them to other offices. This suggests a level of flexibility in handling visa issues.
  • Relocation: There are mentions of peers at other banks like CS, BARC, DB, and JPM being relocated to London offices when their work visa lottery didn't work out. This indicates that Barclays might have similar policies.

However, there is no explicit mention of Barclays sponsoring CPT/OPT visas for the current cycle. It would be best to reach out directly to Barclays' HR or recruitment team to get the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding their sponsorship policies for international students.

I'm sorry, but it looks like this may be out of my ability to answer... maybe some of the links below might help?

Good luck!

Don't lie on your application... Most of these banks that don't sponsor have firmwide blanket policies, they are not making exceptions for an intern. OP should not waste time with firms that do not sponsor.

Doesn't matter if Albert Einstein is in the pipeline, they are not getting into the visa shitshow for an intern when there are 200 equally qualified candidates lined up outside.

This is fair - I was using anecdotal evidence in response to OP. I do believe that for more regional boutiques that they can make exceptions, but OP, I’d take Associate 3’s position over mine especially if they ran recruiting.

nah lying works buddy. So many Chinese kids got offer from my firm which has "no sponsorship" policy. They wait til they get an offer already before discussing sponsorship.
