Barclays IBD FT Analyst in Asia - Thoughts?

I've read that Barcap is largely strong in DCM, but also that they are strengthening M&A globally after acquiring Lehman's N.A. business.

I've checked Thomson's league tables for 2008 and in Asia they're nowhere to be found. I know it's pretty difficult to consider M&A, DCM etc in the same breath so let's just look at Barclays IBD as a whole:

  1. Are they well-regarded in Asia? Would exit opps be good?
  2. Which product/industry groups are strong?

Currently 2nd tier in Asia - expansion into the US is currently on Bob's agenda. But probably Asia will be next. Then, world domination by the looks of it.
