Barclays Menlo Park

Hi! I just got into the diversity program for Barclays Menlo Park and would appreciate more insight into the firm and it’s culture. I currently have an offer standing at another firm in NYC but I would also love to recruit for this office. Any insight would be appreciated— thanks!

Entire technology focus (internet, software, hardware) with a smaller healthcare team. Usually on par with other mid-tier BB's (Citi/BofA/CS) but could argue they are a step below BofA/CS. A lot of the transactions are ECM financing deals with some blend of M&A. Exits have been to some MM/UMM funds, with a focus on growth equity as well. WLB is better than NY Tech group as the NY counterparts get destroyed.

Most Helpful

For tech banks they play in the same field as BAML, CS and Citi. Lots of IPOs, lots of debt raises, lots of LBO financing (acting as the advisor for top buyout funds but really just providing financing). Fastest growing tech IPO practice on the street. Think they are in 4th place for the last few years ahead of where they used to be. M&A is pretty frequent as well but MS/QT/GS often take the mega M&A deals in the tech space. Strong in semiconductors but software and internet are still very very common. Very active deal-flow-most analysts spend a big majority of their time on live deals. Pretty well rounded experience as most analysts leave having worked on almost elements of banking. Culture is pretty fantastic as 100% of the analysts are good, fun, down-to-earth people and mid levels are very helpful and invest a lot of time teaching the analysts. Some disconnect between seniors and juniors but I think that is common in BBs. Hours are on par or slightly below other BBs
