Barclays Spring Intern Conversion

Just got my first spring week offer for Barclays! Does anyone know how hard it is to convert to summer analyst for investment banking? I know it says 70% conversion rate on tracker but it seems like Barclays runs springs for middle/back offices too, so I'm assuming the conversion rate will be lower for investment banking.

Does anyone know what types of questions they ask for the final AC? Also it seem like the program is only 2 days long this year....

Based on the most helpful WSO content, Barclays Spring Week programs typically have a conversion rate of around 70%, but as you mentioned, this figure includes middle and back-office roles. For investment banking specifically, the conversion rate might be slightly lower due to the competitive nature of the front-office roles.

Final Assessment Center (AC) Questions:

For the final AC, Barclays tends to focus on a mix of technical, behavioral, and situational questions. Here’s what you can expect: 1. Technical Questions: These may include valuation methods (DCF, comps, precedent transactions), accounting principles, and market trends. Be prepared to discuss financial statements and how they interconnect. 2. Behavioral Questions: Expect questions like "Tell me about a time you worked in a team" or "Describe a situation where you faced a challenge and how you overcame it." 3. Situational/Case Questions: These could involve analyzing a business scenario or making recommendations based on provided data. For example, you might be asked to review a balance sheet or suggest ways to improve financial stability.

Program Duration:

The 2-day duration for the Spring Week program is shorter than some other banks, but it’s still a valuable opportunity to network and showcase your skills. Make sure to actively participate, ask insightful questions, and leave a strong impression on the team.

Tips for Conversion:

  1. Engage Actively: Show genuine interest in the investment banking division and build relationships with the team.
  2. Excel in the AC: Prepare thoroughly for technical and situational questions. Practice with resources like the WSO Investment Banking Interview Course.
  3. Follow Up: After the program, send thank-you emails to the professionals you interacted with, reinforcing your interest in the summer analyst role.

Good luck with your Spring Week and the conversion process!
