Barclays Top Groups in NYC

Hey all,

I've looked around at past threads and was able to gather that the top groups at Barclays are:

  1. Power and Utilities
  2. NatRes
  3. Consumer Retail
  4. Healthcare

Is this up to date, if so what makes them so strong? Anyone have details on the other groups at Barclays and how strong they are like CMG/TMT, LevFin, ECM? Going through some preliminary group selection due diligence, and would like to find a group to build a career in (not exit to PE)

I'd say after your top 3, it is a toss-up between most other coverage groups all things considered- I'm thinking culture, deal-flow, and exits. I would say FIG and Tech fall below the others like Healthcare, CMG, Industrials, Sponsors, etc.

CMG and FIG- great culture, solid deal flow HC and Industrials- long hours + decent exits Sponsors- good culture + decent exits, very small group (4 analysts per class) Chemicals, Tech, and RE- avoid avoid avoid

Avoid product groups at Barclays including LevFin and capital markets if you want more M&A and modeling work.

Interesting and very helpful. Thanks! Do you know how large the other groups are? (ie how many interns or analysts are in power, cmg, etc. every summer)

For sure. Just wanted a new thread w/ focus in case others were unlikely to click into that thread at this point
