Received a VP offer from Wells and Barclays in NYC. Currently at a smaller boutique firm. Any thoughts? Wells has a lot of momentum but Barclays seems to have a better global brand.

Global brand doesn’t really matter if you’re already VP level unless you have future lateral plans. I’ve only heard negative things about actually working at Barclays so I’d choose WF but just go with who you’ve liked interacting with more.

Edit: my comments are US specific. If you're not US, different story. Wells is growing a decent team in London actually but beyond that, IB coverage rest of the world is very much work in progress.
OP got a New York offer. Barclays’ New York Power team is generally regarded as stronger than Wells’ Power group.
If you’re comparing the Houston energy office , it’s much closer. Wells has the edge in A&D, while Barclays is stronger in Midstream, so the better choice depends on which sector you’re more interested in.
