BB Back Office to Front Office at boutique or Middle Market

I am interviewing for a back office BB and I want to know the possibility to transition to FO at boutique and middle market IBs. I am a recent grad from a non-elite school and my aspiration is to eventually end up at a PE firm (small or large). From other threads it seems hard to transition to a BB front office role within the firm, but would boutique and middle market firms be willing to hire, or are we looking at the same/worse odds at transitioning to a FO role within the firm?
