BB & EB IB Regional Offices in Tier 2/3 Cities; Fact or Fiction?

Everyone knows that most BBs and EBs have offices in NYC, Chicago, SF, LA, Houston (also Charlotte for BAML/WF). However, I hear sometimes about BB or EB offices in smaller cities like Washington DC, Dallas, Atlanta, Miami, Boston, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, and Charlotte for non BAML/WF. Are there actually BB & EB regional offices that hire junior bankers in these offices or is it mostly support roles?

I can only comment to Boston, but banks with presence* here include: -Lazard -PJT -Jefferies -Moelis -Harris Williams -William Blair -Piper Sandler -JPM (I think?) -Raymond James -Stephens

I could be missing some, but off the top of my head thats what I remember. There was a thread a while back regarding DC that was quite comprehensive.

*By presence, I mean offices with analysts, not just senior people.

RJ BOS is Tech & Services, by far their strongest group. Basically the Lane Berry acquisition rebranded to RJ.

Moelis BOS is respectable, looking to expand and has a decent number of analysts and a handful of interns.

Can’t comment on the rest.

Go to school there and I’m 98% sure they moved all IB jobs out of SLC last year
