BB NY SA26: No Return but Strong Letter of Rec from Head of Group

Interned at a BB, received consistently positive feedback, had great mid + end reviews. Did not get return due to headcount and 1nt3rnat10nal status (but just a few weeks ago found out I will not need sp0ns0rsh1p).

Interviewed at a few BBs and MMs and a PE shop, but was told by ANs that I did not get the offer because of my 1nt3rnat1ona1 status. That has now changed, but most doors are closed.

Now no BBs or UMMs are hiring top-up. I'm lost and do not know what to do. I am eligible for any position now, given that I will not need sp0ns0rsh1p.

I cannot afford a masters or MBA as of now to buy time.

I have a letter of rec from the Head of the Group:

"He was, without fail, always the first person in the office each morning, stayed responsive at all hours, and spent the summer asking for additional staffings rather than waiting for them."

"I would have been glad to have him back on my team. I give him my full recommendation. Any team that hires him will get a proactive, culturally strong, hardworking analyst who learns and improves quickly, and is exciting to work with. I would be happy to speak directly with anyone interested in hiring him (contact information below)."

My plan is to grind out interview prep and modeling during winter break and network hard to get a seat at an LMM or, if a seat opens up, 2-3 BBs where I have strong connections.

Would anyone have any advice on where to go from here? I feel defeated, but I am not giving up. I loved my summer and would do anything to get a coverage or product role at any bank with deal flow.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

I'm saying that if they were not giving return offers to international students then they would not have hired summer interns in the first place for this summer. I know of incoming SA 27 who need sponsorship.
