BCG vs Alvarez Marsal for subsequent IB recruitment

I'm in the second year of a target EU/UK university and didn't get an IB summer in London. I have to go back to my country, and my options are BCG or Alvarez Marsal. Seemingly easy decision but:

  1. Alvarez: Most mid-level/seniors are ex-bankers and execs (some ex-London), and they mostly do turnarounds and RX with lots of financial granularity. I talked to the teams, and they want to give me genuine exposure. The downside of this is obviously the name, which is second/third tier to BCG
  2. BCG: People are ok but standard consultants. The office is heavy on one sector in which I would not want to work in the future. Benefits: Obviously, it's BCG.

Everyone told me to take BCG for the name and stick it out even if the sector is boring and it's going to be 90% slides vs more real work at A&M

Objectives informing the decision: Mid-term, I want to go into IB in London - my first choice would be RX, but I'll obviously take anything

The question is simple: what do I do and why
