Being in military reserves while in advisory investment banking?

Hi,

Considering joining air force reserves immediately after graduating from undergrad. I understand that employers are supposed to respect the weekend commitments of reservists, however, I understand that this might not always happen considering the work load of analysts. How likely is this to be a problem as an analyst?

There are legal protections that the bank would need to follow. If they do not they open themselves up to a threat of lawsuit. If you are two and out, I think you'd be fine (maybe worse bucket for bonus, but if you have evidence its bc military it would be a problem) at upper levels, I'd guess the military time would lead to issues with promotion even if the bank would deny it.

Do you think it will hurt career progression beyond the 3-5 years you serve? When I say career progression, I mean future roles (of course you won't have the same modeling / client skills as someone who works an additional 20 hours every month).
