Best IB Strategy

I know that Investment Banking is something that is very difficult to get into and was wondering (as an incoming college freshman at Indiana University - Bloomington) what are some things that I can do to put myself ahead to breaking into IB?

I have 0 clue what the club is called, but there is a club at your univ that's whole goal is to get kids into IB. Join that other finance clubs network on linkedin at least 3.5 GPA inter ships that are vaguely finance related ASAP. All the usual tricks used to break in. Reach out to alumni first, then everyone else. Good luck! Feel free to ask more questions.

Goes without saying but get into Kelley if not a DA. Join the Investment Banking Workshop (“IBW”). The process starts your freshman / sophomore year so once you’re on campus begin networking and building relationships with older students in the workshop. I believe there’s a site (or used to be) which shows current members but also just be social and meet people organically. It’s a competitive workshop so be ready to put in some work to be accepted. Try to keep as close to 4.0 for your freshman year as possible. There are also other workshops / seminars now that place pretty well too if the IBW doesn’t work out. Good that it’s on your mind this early, a lot of students miss the application window because they were unaware how early it all starts.
