Best practice for spreading comps ?

I have to do an activity for my training at a boutique IB which involves spreading some basic comps. I understand it’s best to find each relevant statement and hard code numbers in but is pulling numbers from factset accurate as well? For example using Factsets cash/debt totals or enterprise value calculations. And I don’t mean using the factset plugin - just finding numbers from factset rather than going into statements and adding things up - is this valid ?
