Best Renewable Groups for After-IB

I'm strongly interested in renewable energy and would like to pursue a career in this sector after IB, so I'm looking for the best groups (EB/BB/MM idc, but not dedicated green energy boutiques) that focus on or at least cover renewable energy. Preferably located in NYC, SF, or Chicago.

Bank of America has the strongest reputation in the sector of the bulge bracket banks, and it’s really not very close - check the league tables and their activity on EV Charging SPACs this year.

If you want to exit to renewable energy companies or renewable focused private equity, a boutique might be the way to go. Nearly all of the largest renewable energy dedicated funds, and many infra funds that also cover renewables, hire from the top 3-4 sector focused boutiques. The best of these boutiques usually win renewables mandates against EB’s (they don’t really compete against bulge brackets due to the difference in transaction focus and scale).

PJ Solomon’s renewables investment team has also been extremely active the last couple of years - their new group head is well regarded in the space.
