Tobin & Co
lol
Tobin & co making a strong push in MM M&A across a variety of industry sectors
I second on Tobin & Co, especially since they recruited one of Jeffrey Epstein's former assistants as an associate. The team is looking strong as ever.
It's nuts that this is actually true.
Just looked it up...this guy was Epstein's personal assistant and visited him more than 130 times while he was in prison in 2009.
Probably one of the MM firms like Jefferies or HL
I would imagine RBC will continue to grow unless something happens that really sets them back. I would also guess some new up and coming boutiques may move closer to EB status. We see firms like Liontree and Dyal continue to move up in the world.
Also, not necessarily on our street but across the Pacific, I'm interested to see how banks like Standard Chartered and HSBC handle the changes going on in Hong Kong.
Jefferies seems to be on a really good trend. William Blair does as well. Among the bulge brackets probably BAML. They've been hiring a ton of senior bankers the last 12-18 months.
Mizuho/RBC/CS all growing super fast for the BBs
I think UBS and Deutsche Bank will continue to lose market share for their IB divisions. They fall between two chairs in Europe atm; their names don't carry the same weight as a BB and they're not as specialized as a lot of the EBs and boutiques.
Will be interested to see how serious some of the BB's are when it comes to chasing MM deals.
Once M&A starts to tick down again I wonder if Goldman's Cross Markets group will still be around.
RBC rising into BB while DB/UBS fall
Guggenheim rising into EB while Greenhill falls
RBC, HL, Jeffries. I also would say Macquarie as they seem to be expanding more into the US
Can confirm on Mac. Their Chicago office was started 3 years ago by poaching 3 guys from CS, and they now have almost 30 bankers
poaching doesn't necessarily mean being successful. a lot of the times senior MDs go down market at the tail end of their career. don't follow the Chicago scene - sam shah is ok but don't think he's done much after joining mac
