Something I am curious about. There are many different Blackberry models; which is the most commonly used in investment banks? Anyone upgrading to the Bold?

Has anyone used the Storm yet? If so - how is it?
i used it, its pretty weak to be honest, i feel like it was rushed to the market...if you want a touch screen get an iphone, if you want a keyboard get the bold...i have the bold its sick
The Storm looks cool, but I hear you have to push harder than you do on the iphone for anything to happen. Verizon made a huge mistake giving up the exclusive for the iphone 2-3 years ago.

THe blackberry 8800 series is where it is at... elegance, beauty, and class.
blackberry bold is everything that the curve is and more. it's processor 2.5x as fast as the curve's, has an extremely high contrast screen which looks amazing, and it has internal 1gb of RAM.
i have the curve, and i'm definitely gonna look to the bold or it's successors for my next phone.
I would wait for the javelin to come out in 09 if you don't have At&T (the sole Bold provider). The javelin will be the successor to the curve, which is in the process of being phased out. http://crackberry.com/more-blackberry-9300-javelin-hardware-sweetness. Of the 3, the Bold is the superior product.
Honestly, it's just a matter of when you got your crackberry. I have an 8830 (The World Edition one from Verizon) and when I upgrade, unless VZ either gets the Bold or the Javelin or RIM makes significant v2 revisions on the Storm, I may just keep mine until a better phone comes out for VZ.
So do your firms have your bb's only allow email or do they also allow the bb to make phone calls, text msgs, etc.?

You'll see some people with older models (8700 series are very popular). Just until recently, the 8700s are the freebies and the Curves were slightly more expensive.
Yes, the curve is cooler than the 8700 and the bold is cooler than the curve, but you gotta justify why you need one versus the other.
Out of the three, the curve is my favorite, it's the smallest and lightest blackberry with a full querty keyboard. I have not tried the storm yet. The bold is significantly larger than the curve. Most of the corporate blackberries aren't going to allow you to do as much multimedia with them as you want.
A few business tips to try to convince the office manager that you need an upgrade:
8700 -> Curve: Bloomberg Professional. If you have professional access (typically S&T only), you can get bloomberg on your blackberry. Curve also has better support for PDFs and other documents on the go if you don't have your laptop.
Curve -> Bold: This is tough. Functionality wise, the Bold adds a lot of bulk but not anything substantial. (Better web browser is not going to fly). there is one exception: the Bold works in Japan and the Curve does not. Have a deal with a Japanese client? Planning to travel to Japan for a personal trip but need real-time e-mail access? Bold is the way to go.
The Bold is way faster than the Curve and you will be able to use productivity software simultaneously with Gmail, Facebook, Browser, Opera, and whatever else you have running.
If you try to run a bunch of programs on the Curve, you'll find that you're spending more time waiting for the hourglass to go away than doing work.
