bnp paribas, societe general, jefferies

which one for banking in the united states? are these shops reputable here? would you pick either over jefferies? i'm guessing compensation is comparable with BB (non-GS/JPM) but would like some more info.

I would take BNP. BNP is top 20 for worldwide M&A. Jeffries is nowhere close.

My superday with Moelis was with ex-Jeffries restructuring guys. The best of their restructuring bankers were poached. Jeffries used to apparently be a great place to work (collegiate, tight-knit etc) but the people who made it that way apparently left.

At the junior level, all the BBs (except UBS) pay the same. I would guess it's comparable, but I would be surprised if it were as high.
