I’m currently at Bank of America and the VP that made the post a few weeks ago telling people to stop begging for layoffs because of “bloat”

I can’t help but feel some sense of “i told you so”

A few of the guys who was very vocal about wanting layoffs got laid off themselves and were performing well

Like I said at the time layoffs happen randomly and can impact you even if you’re a “top” performer

I hope there are more layoffs and livelihoods ruined so people would realize how good they had it and SHUT THE FUCK UP

I should also add that not all of them were fired, a few were asked to join other teams

as a top performer at bofa, my opinon is that the layoffs were justified. you can't not fire people for almost half a decade while simultaneously hiring every person with a pulse and promoting everyone. every other bank has done layoffs while bofa has held back for years. i mention top performer because i am getting crushed every week while i see almost a quarter of my class going home and doing nothing because of either bloat or incompetent hiring. sucks if some good performers were caught in the fire, but at least in my group, the people who got sent away were people who would log off at 8pm every night or people who would plainly not come to work.

Controversial

BofA is the single worst bank for dealing entitled, DEI-privileged, Female MBA Associates.

The opposite of what it was like in the mid 80s. The glory years when women made the coffee.

Not the model.

150 firings is absolutely brutal for an IB-Bank. The lateral market is going to be dead with all these BoFA people recruiting for basically any possible job. Further goes to show how commoditized banking talent is.
