Boss wants to have a “quick catchup” without telling me why?

Hi guys:

My boss just sent me a calendar invite for Friday that just says “Quick catch-up”; I have no idea what it’s for; I asked him if I should prepare anything for it, he said no need and it’s just a quick catchup before the week ends.... what should I expect? It seems ominous... should I be worried? What are these cases usually for?

how come you are associate in pe and i have more emotional intelligence than you

Your boss isn't giving you a 2 day heads up on getting the can.

If you walk into work on a Friday morning and your boss pulls you aside.....bye

When my manager does that he usually wants to talk staffing. But that's in consulting. Plus, we're working from home. Typing it up in an email would take too much time for him so he puts an event in my calendar. I agree it feels a little strange to get it without any comment on what's it about. But he has more important things to do.

My group is having us reach out to the analysts (each of us were assigned 1-3) to check up on them and feign that we care about their well-being during this wfh period. Probably just some “how are you doing little bud” bullshit

If the invite is for the afternoon, especially if after 3pm, NOT good. You should try delay doing any extra work for them and start thinking about exit strategies in case you get fired. If it's for the morning, no immediate worries. They never fire people in the morning. They will have to pay you for the entire day, so the capitalist thugs will make sure they get an entire day's worth of labor from you; they usually even give you extra work in the morning and/or make sure you complete/submit any work they previously gave you. If the meeting's scheduled for the afternoon, don't do any extra work for the suckers, even if they try to pressure you in the morning. Oh by the way, if you see HR being present in/suddenly added to your call, you're dead meat, my mate. I wish you the best. Let us know what happens!
