Boston Meetup

I will be in Boston later this year for business and extended my trip to turn it into a mini-vacation. Interested in grabbing food / drinks with other professionals. I’ve worked at multiple PE portcos in strategy and finance.
I’ll be staying in the waterfront and then moving to Back Bay for the latter half of my trip if anyone has some recommendations for stuff to do.
Plan on hitting Fenway, Freedom Trail, and as much clam chowder as I can.
Can’t post to off topic as new, but I used to be active on WSO under another account. Don’t want my office to know my old account. Also know people from my office will see this and know who I am, so hey you fuckers.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, Boston is a city brimming with activities and places that cater to a wide range of interests, especially for professionals visiting for business and leisure. Since you're planning to stay in the Waterfront and Back Bay areas, here are some tailored recommendations to make the most out of your trip:

Waterfront Area:

  • Explore the Boston Harborwalk: A scenic walk along Boston's waterfront offering stunning views of the harbor. It's a great way to enjoy the city's maritime atmosphere.
  • Visit the New England Aquarium: Perfect for a relaxing afternoon, the aquarium is a hit among professionals and families alike.
  • Dining: The Waterfront is known for its seafood. Legal Sea Foods and Row 34 are excellent choices for clam chowder and fresh oysters.

Back Bay Area:

  • Newbury Street: Offers a mix of high-end boutiques, art galleries, and lovely cafes. It's a great place for a leisurely stroll.
  • The Boston Public Library: Not only for book lovers but also a stunning architectural marvel worth visiting. It's a peaceful place to unwind.
  • Skywalk Observatory: For breathtaking panoramic views of the city. It's a nice spot to visit after a day of meetings.

General Activities:

  • Fenway Park: Since you're already planning to visit, consider taking a tour of the park to learn about its history and significance in baseball.
  • Freedom Trail: A 2.5-mile-long path through downtown Boston that passes by 16 locations significant to the history of the United States. It's both educational and a good way to explore the city on foot.
  • Food Scene: Boston's food scene is diverse. Beyond clam chowder, try some Italian cuisine in the North End or explore the food trucks and local breweries around the city.

Networking with Professionals:

  • Professional Meetups: Check out platforms like Meetup.com or the Events section on LinkedIn for any professional gatherings happening during your stay.
  • WSO Meetups: Keep an eye on the Wall Street Oasis forums for any informal meetups or networking events among finance professionals.

Enjoy your trip to Boston, and it sounds like a fantastic opportunity to blend business with pleasure. Don't forget to try as much clam chowder as you can and maybe discover some hidden gems in the city. Safe travels!

Hit the north end for some good Italian dinners and make sure you look at the reviews. Lots of overrated places that have shit service and shit food. After dinner walk over to Cafe Vittoria for some tiramisu and hard coffee drinks, no reservations just ask for a table and try to get the first one, it gets packed.

Back bay is honestly my favorite spot, always packed with places to go out. Stay away from anything west of Back Bay like the Fenway area, it’s filled with either drunk college kids or blackout 40yo bums. Stay in back bay the police are top tier and do their jobs well. Go to Lolita for drinks and food - you won’t regret it, the scene is lively. There’s a small speakeasy inside a restaurant Faccia a Faccia called Bar Pallino, just walk in and ask for it. It’s down some stairs and packed with people, always a fun setting. Or try Hecate if you’re feeling perilous, the entrance is in a shitass alley with a hidden door on the side of a building. Go there if you feel like dancing with the devil, could be fun you never know.

If you want a change of scenery then go to Seaport, it’s the most fun you could probably find. Lolita, bars, and a ton of bar gaming - and not the college type. Everyone in seaport are working professionals, it’s the most high end district of Boston. Try the rooftop bars and the waterfront restaurants, always a hit and never misses. Overall great place for a great time, stupid expensive but worth every dime. Have fun, cheers.
