Broke into IB out of undergrad: non-target, no IB internships

Pretty stoked rn. Broke into a MM firm from a non-target with no prior IB internships. 3.3 gpa, athlete. Have solid buy side internships.

Worked my dick off for a year to get in the door. Cannot tell you how many rejections I got over the past year. Sometimes it’s just all about timing and being prepared for when the moment comes. I would not have changed one single word I said in any of my interviews.

I would not have changed one single word I said in any of my interviews.

Can you elaborate what you mean a little? Do you mean you were always prepared enough not to have any hiccups and that's partly what led to your success?

Yes what I meant is that even though I do not have the perfect grades or target school, I was still prepared and confident in my abilities. I was assertive in my interviews, able to talk knowledgeably about IB + the bank specifically, and knew my technicals. After 4 consecutive hour long interviews, my first thought was, “wow I do not regret anything I said in all those interviews and wouldnt change one word.”

Yea all that “I would not change one word about my interviews “ is cringey as hell. 3.3 Gpa is nothing to brag about I’m an athlete at a non target too and still keep my grades up it’s not hard. getting into IB when you are clearly under qualified is not a flex it’s just pure luck don’t know what knowledge this guy can really offer for recruiting.

Congrats my guy. That was me this past year so I understand the hard work, grind, and mental toughness it took to get there. I am happy for you. Keep at it !!!
