What is the overall perception of investment banking Latin America coverage groups at bulge brackets (JPM/BAML/Citi/CS)? Which are the strongest? How are the exit opps into PE/VC or HF?
I am from the region and am thinking of interning at one of these.

I would say Citi->JPM->BAML. Interviewed with all 3 for LatAm in the past year or so, gonna assume not much has changed.

Dont really know too much about exit opps. I know a guy who went to a top 20 MBA and another who went on to do project finance based in LatAm. Sorry I cant help much more than that.
I'm currently in LatAm M&A at one of the BBs. All have a very respectable presence in the region, but based on M&A deal flow in the last couple of years it would be BAML > JPM > Citi > CS.
Exit opps into PE from LatAm groups are good if you develop a strong modeling skill set during your analyst stint. Try to get some solid live M&A experiences and you will be well positioned.
Do you need to be bilingual or have a background from the countries that they cover?
You do usually have to speak either Spanish or Portuguese to be considered, but it's not necessary to be from Latin America.
From a local perspective: JPM has a more solid presence here. Citi is leaving most markets in the region (*they should maintain some coverage but leaving location might reduce a little bit the exposure). CS has a very good presence especially in Brazil. If you're based in the US, I honestly have no idea but would say JPM as well.

I'm a junior at a target ivy, majoring in econ and I have lived/studies/interned in Latin America. I speak portuguese and spanish fluently. After college I want to stay in the city for a couple years, and eventually settle in Brazil. I'm interested in interning at a Latin America group (IB) in a BB, but I'm not sure which are supposed to be the best options. I heard JP Morgan and Credit Suisse are top players, UBS is sort of decadent and Goldman is not that focused on the region. I found a lot of info on this forum but I guess most of it has to be updated... Can you please give me some advice regarding this? And if someone worked/interned in a latam group, please contact me!

CS kills it in LatAm. They have a standalone LatAm M&A group that does very well too. Hours are rough.
What about Citi or BAML?
don't JPM and Deutsche also do very well?
