Buyout of bonus
I’ve recently received an offer to join an EB as an M&A Associate 1. I am currently an Associate 1 at my current bank, and my new contract states that my first bonus at the new firm would be paid on a pro rata basis for time spent there. Start date is envisaged for June so we are talking about 5 months worth of bonus being lost.
Given this, would it be reasonable to ask whether they would consider buying out the bonus I would forfeit by leaving my current firm or is it difficult in this market?
