Bypassing HR? (FT)

Disclaimer: This is somewhat of a rant.

I know most of the discussions going on now are in regards to SA recruiting but this pertains to FT.

The simple question I'd like to get answered - Is it possible to get brought in without HR approval anymore?

I'm not sure when it stopped, but I know you used to be able to get brought in to interview by a recommendation from a senior level person.

I would say I have established pretty good relationships with VPs and above but it always seems they can't do anything because HR doesn't see a need for the group.

Or if the situation arises when I do know there is a position available it still seems HR is deciding who to bring in.

Well I will say I don't have the typical pedigree but that's why I've been trying to establish connections with the people in the actual spots I am interested in.

Here to learn and hopefully pass on some knowledge as well. SB if I helped.

If you can convince a company executive that you have unique talents and value-adds to him/her then said executive may very well decide to bring you onboard. Even if there is no position readily available. they could create one just for you. Although this is usually more difficult to achieve at analyst/associate level as the recruitment process for the junior positions tends to be much more standardized and handled by HR.

Too late for second-guessing Too late to go back to sleep.
