Calling in sick first week at work

How bad of a look is this? Pretty sure I have covid and I just started two days ago. I’ve been coughing like crazy and have a fever. Managed to push through the past 2 days but even my team did say if I was basically dying to just stay home

given confirmation from team I'd just take a day. be as available as possible and still be online but take it really easy. drink a shit ton of water, go to a sauna if u can to sweat it out. not a big deal

Why on earth would you go to a sauna with COVID and spread it around to others? Stay inside and work remotely

This is one of those things that people assume you'll get shit for but in reality no one will care. I started at a pretty sweaty banking group and sick days were never questioned unless the timing was odd (like having a "sick" day after Thanksgiving). And even then no one really cared as long as the work was being done.

It may mean you need to stack up over the weekend to catch up but unless your group is really run by psychopaths it won't matter.

Yeah OP here and this is basically what happened. Ended up taking a day off but came in the next day even though I wasn’t any better. By 10, MD told me to head home and get rest. Wasn’t Covid though.

The only time I did this was when I realized I joined a MLM job. I got 'sick' and never showed back up. Was pissed at the time but can look back and laugh. Was on the fence about the job until I described the job in detail to a friend. Quickly realized I got tricked once I explained my job to him (was made recently unemployed at the time and thought this job was in sales & marketing).
