Can I still trade stocks?

So I am in high school and I am researching different careers. I am interested in finance, particularly S&T, ECM, and DCM. My question- would I even be allowed to trade stocks as a finance professional freely? Or would I be limited? I have heard that it has to approved by compliance or HR first. Is that true, or do they just want some type of monthly/quarterly report of your account? This is a big deal for me, as I don't want to be limited in my ability to learn about trading and actually trading shares.

You cannot trade, not sure how it works but you would have to disclose your purchases before hand and would take like 1-2 months before your trade is realized.
