Canada -> US Visa Information

Can't seem to find an updated / clear guidelines on the VISA process for Canadians trying to work in the states (IB). Can anyone summarize the VISA process, and perhaps list the companies that are hiring Canadians for FT?

Thanks

If you’re Canadian looking work for a US company, Your options are a TN or H1B visa. H1B is hard to get but allows you to apply for a green card after some time. A TN visa is easy to get but is not a path to permanent residency. If you receive a job offer your employer should hire a lawyer to handle the process. Any large company (500+ employees) should have no issue with visas, normally you won’t get a reply if they don’t sponsor visas.

If you’re at a smaller shop I suggest TN Visa as almost everyone gets approved, can take as little as 2 weeks and you apply at the airport with your paperwork before your flight. You’ll need a lawyer who specializes in TN visas ($5000 ish), original university diploma and written job offer. The most difficult part is what your title is coming in engineer, management, accountant,.. speak to the lawyer about this.
