Generally, when someone says Capital Markets they mean ECM and DCM. Some banks use Capital Markets to describe their S&T operations just as some use Global Markets or Securities...it depends on the bank. As you noticed you can tell which one someone is referring to by the way they post. Also, if you meet someone who is in trading, but their bank calls them Capital Markets, nearly everyone will tell other people that they are in S&T and won't use the Capital Markets name.
