Car Options For 1 Year?

Next year I will be living in a city where it is necessary to have a car. (Very widespread, public transportation is terrible). I'm also not from the US so there is a chance that after 1 year of working there I may have to leave. Very naive on the whole topic of buying/leasing cars in general and since my parents are not from the US they don't have great advice. I do know most places don't do 1-year leases and, if you find one, the monthly payments will be absurd. What are the alternatives here? Buy a car and sell it after a year? How would that work if I was to take out a loan for the car?

Any advice or ideas are appreciated

You can easily buy a car for 1 year and then sell it. Dealerships make it painfree to take out a loan, and I'm assuming the used car market will still be strong in a year, making it easy to sell. It's less of a hassle than you think

For relatively cheap cars- I recommend a mazda grand touring, maybe a 2018 or 2019. It has nice features, safe, fun to drive, and only ~$17k
