Career Advice - investment adviser or stock broker?
If I want to be someone who manages investment portfolios for people by making their day to day trades for them, should I be working as a stock broker or an investment advisor or some other position?
Not a stock broker. To my knowledge you will be trying to sell them on some stocks and executing trades, but aren't really managing any portfolios. Something like private wealth management would be good if you want to manage individual portfolios.
Thanks
sounds like you want to be an execution trader.
S&T
I'm not familiar with all the acronyms yet, S&T?
I believe it stands for Surf & Turf, but not sure.
It sounds like you want to be an execution trader at a hedge fund. You should pursue investment banking or sales & trading to try and make the jump after your analyst years. Feel free to PM me if you would like more specific information.
Yes, This.
Sales & Trading (S&T)
Do S&T at a well regarded BB for two years then make the switch into a hedge fund or the like
If you want to be managing the investment portfolio of individuals you should be working in PWM or Wealth Management.
