Career anxiety advice for incoming freshmen

I was introduced to IB a while back and am lucky enough to be attending a target this fall. I’ve heard advice both saying to start as early as possible but also to enjoy freshman year, but here’s the thing: how do you guys get over / push away that sense of anxiety of not constantly doing the best you can (esp for IB with its early recruiting but also true for other careers).

Then again i’m generally an anxious person (not clinically diagnosed) so it might just be me

I wish I had better advice on how to do this, but I strongly recommend that you enjoy college, especially your Freshman year. I can't imagine spending those formative years only focused on my career. You will have your entire life to worry about work.

Of course, you need to balance these two things and ensure that you are getting good grades and involving yourself with some on-campus organizations. But you don't want to look back and realize that you wasted the only four years you will ever spend in college.

Also, you'll realize that the majority of the benefit of being aware earlier is you get to space out your commitment, etc. doing 3 clubs instead of 2 increases your odds at your target job by ~0%. So have the mindset of getting 2-3 clubs that are either leadership or finance related, and then try and get an internship each summer. After you do that, literally chill and don't think about IB recruiting until 2 years from now
