CB Relationship Management to Loan Syndications?

A little background, I spent two years as an Analyst at a BB that groups Corporate Banking and Investment Banking under the same umbrella. I then moved to an Associate role in Corporate Banking/Relationship Management at a non-BB (think PNC/RBC/SunTrust) for a substantial pay raise (the BB I was at underpaid the shit out of us).

I make decent money ($225K all in) on 40 hours a week but I’m not in love with the role. I enjoy client meetings, pitching and being a “sales” guy but I’m really interested in Loan Syndications and the work that goes around syndicating large loans.

Not really sure how to go about making a move. From what I’ve heard from my contacts in Syndications at other banks, these positions are hard to come by. Has anyone had any experience making this move? Would appreciate any insight.
