Chances with BB firm in NY?!

Hey,

I was wondering if a got a chance to get with a BB firm in NY. I go to the University of Illinois (UIUC) and I have a 3.83 GPA. Iâ€m a Finance major and Iâ€m going to be a junior next semester. This summer I was interning as a Financial Advisor Intern in the suburbs of Chicago. (I was pretty much doing busy work...) Iâ€m an international student and Iâ€m fluent in three languages. I go to UIUC on an athletic scholarship (20-25 hours of practice). Unfortunately were only a club sport at UIUC. I was captain on the U-22 National Team when we last semester went to Istanbul for the European Championships. I was also a treasurer for my fraternity and Iâ€ve been involved in community service. Iâ€m going to join an Investment Banking Club next semester, before recruiting for next summer starts.

Iâ€ll try to post a copy of my resume later if possible.

your resume etc is fine. trying to improve your resume or GPA won't help you at this point. you need to network like crazy.

not that I have any authority, but your chances sound pretty decent in chicago. new york will be harder simply because NY banks target northeastern students more. if reps of NY branch of BB banks actually visit your campus, then I'd say your near the top of the pack of the people from your school, and I know UIUC has a pretty decent business school

okay, you're just going to have to work a hell of a lot harder than anyone on the east coast to get the job. try for a middle market internship this summer and see if you can located any alumni at any of the firms. alumni are probably your best shot. good luck
