Chicago recruiting from ND / WashU

I go to ND / WashU and want to place in a top BB or EB in Chicago because of family ties to the area. My issue is that every top BB and EB takes almost all Northwestern and Uchicago students despite having very few spots each. Why do they do this, is it because of more alumni or just because of prestige reasons? And how do i overcome this deficit to place in a top chicago bb/eb from ND / WashU. I appreciate the answers.

Notre Dame definitely isn't in the "top BB and EB" Chicago banks that OP is looking for, those almost exclusively take UChicago and Northwestern interns.

you answered your own question no? they have few spots so they take from the top schools. if you had more spots then they could take from other schools. you can try networking w ppl from ur HS/same area of chi

People commenting on this post saying ND is second rate in Chicago are full of shit.

Every year we have placements at the following:

- GS Industrials CHI

- Citi CHI

- Barclays CHI

- Evercore Paper/Packaging CHI

- PWP Industrials CHI

- Lazard RX CHI

- Used to place at Moelis CHI (office doesn’t really take analysts anymore)

- Used to place 2+ annually at CS CHI (the former best Chicago office)

- Blair/Baird/HL and all the other MMs

NU and UChicago are undoubtedly on top. I did literally 0 networking and got 11 interviews and ended up at a top BB from NU. Similiar to the 6 other kids who want chicago ib, really 0 effort required.

ND students get interviews from, and place into, literally every single Chicago office. Obviously, there is variation by year, but had several ND contacts at every relevant office in Chicago that were happy to pull during recruiting.
