"Citi bans Zoom meetings and designated May 28 holiday" BULLSHIT
IB group doesn't give a fuck
have multiple zoom meetings and deliverables scheduled this Friday

If really nothing wont happen on friday, then we should really really send anonymous signals to reporters at FT.....
This can be a trigger to real changes!
Yeah, we have to figure out how to get back at Citi for this. Honestly unacceptable and I’m pissed
I heard you should make a deck, send a shockwave through the industry and have nothing change at your firm
Hey, if Citi analysts complain enough, BAML/CS analysts might get another raise!
Damn, that sucks but is sadly unsurprising.
Somebody should make a banking culture, watchdog LinkedIn page that people can submit to - even better if there is proof (provided it doesn't come back to any specific individual). A large page (100k+ followers) on a mainstream social media site will start to chip away at the "prestige" and "benefits" that these banks continually espouse, and hopefully, allow aspiring monkeys the information needed to make informed career decisions.
That’s what litquidity is for these days
I mean, will it really change anything tho? this is a revolving door industry - the sad fact is there's thousands of saps that will want to take your place if you don't want to
WallStreetConfessions is basically this ... except it’s mostly become a place where females complain about vaguely sexist behaviors
I realize you are probably just venting, but this complaining doesn’t do anything. If it makes you feel better and is an outlet for you, then that’s fine. And I think if what you are saying is true, that is a tough situation to be in.
I would recommend either raising it internally (to try and change something) or leaving. Personally, I wouldn’t get anything from posting online like this (that sort of venting doesn’t help me) but I sure as sh*t would fight it with my firm.
edit: for those of you throwing MS you have to realize that you are the only one that can change things. You either change things at your firm (and push for those senior people to change stuff) or you should leave because you don’t believe things will change (you are also more than welcome to stay, but you are going to keep running into the same outcomes). That isn’t to say it is right, but if the senior people won’t listen to you and you believe they are wrong, you either get the F out, or you end up dealing with it. As nice as it would be for things to just change, what I keep reading is that it isn’t, so why work for them? Yes, you can “shame” them, but it doesn’t seem like they care, so you decide what to do, but realize you are going into it with all the info to make your own life choices. So all I’m recommending is you do something about it. I’m not saying the the way you are being treated is right, I’m just saying you need to figure out what you want in life, and if your firm sucks then don’t be there.
complaining on wso accomplished nothing. Either address this with someone, get a whistleblower to leak it, or leave.
Yep work at a different bank and group head sent email that Friday should be protected for juniors.
Have multiple meetings and MD is a yes man and told client we’d get him something by EOW. Smh
Lmaooooo
Friday technically isn’t a holiday in the US, it’s Monday next week is (5/31). So technically Friday 5/27 is a regular business day so things customarily will go as they always do. I get some companies are putting the breaks and exceptions for the Friday before MDW, but if it’s not a federal holiday I personally don’t expect to have anything relaxed in regards to work or meetings and my gig at the IB I work for I’m in meetings all day regardless of what day of the week it is.
I’m not saying they’re wrong to be mad that Friday isn’t being recognized as a holiday or more relaxed for meetings and work, but it shouldn’t be expected to be a holiday when it really isn’t one as it’s a regular Friday business day. If the holiday fell the next day (5/29) then the day before would be recognized as a federal holiday but this isn’t the case🇺🇸🇺🇸
Not the one throwing MS, but Citi expects analysts/associates to work the Monday holiday. The day off is Sunday for IBD, so Friday matters a lot more.
Says who? I’ve already been told I’m not expected to work Monday and I work for a very well known IB. No person I know in finance has been asked to work Monday and I know quite a few. I’m not saying everyone’s wrong, but I always question half the shit that gets posted about interns/analysts and associates and working conditions. For their sake, I hope they get the day off, everyone deserves it and shouldn’t be expected to work. Period. 🇺🇸
If anyone has that survey from GS, can you post it or DM me it. I’m not denying it, I just heard a lot from both sides, half that thing it’s bogus BS, and others that think it’s real. I’m middle of the road but I personally haven’t heard anything at GS about that.
I mean in the grand scheme of things, yes working conditions can/do suck everywhere. As much as I put blame on companies, teams/divisions, whatever, I put just as much if not more on the people that take the jobs. I don’t work for Citi but the IB I work for is up there, and I know/knew damn well and willingly what I am and will be getting into all across the board (expectations, environment, you name it). These guys knew and probably know what they were getting into. I’m not saying I’m right or they’re wrong but why take a job if you’re going to nit complain but get pissed about the time off/holidays? There’s other companies just as good if not better. 🇺🇸
Just google the survey it's widely available.
And to your point on putting the blame on people, it is one thing to be grinding your ass off on a live deal and pull a few weeks of late nights vs. getting an MD ask about something he/she knew about days ago but only assigned at the last minute leading up to a weekend. It's definitely the expectation to work your ass off when you sign the job contract but why not make it better where there are glaring inefficiencies? I have rarely seen people complain about live stuff but rather assignments which are either internal or just on a false deadline for a client with poor management from an MDs part.
For background tomorrow (Friday) was declared "Citi Global Reset Day" by Jane Frazier. Everyone is unequivocally supposed to get the day off.
Firm is all talk, not surprised this thread exists. Fuck Citi. Would rather you not create a bogus holiday and not follow it than pretend to care. Scheduled on ~10 ZOOM meetings tomorrow with near-term deliverables weekend through Monday.
That's such trash sorry to hear that.
