Citi IBD international mobility

I am contemplating on an offer from Citi IBD in India for 3Y analyst position. Could anyone provide any feedback on the work culture, hours, and most importantly international mobility from Citi IBD India.

any help greatly appreciated.

The India IBD group at Citi was mostly research, outsourced pitch books and formatting work. They basically got everything that analysts in NY didn't want to do. I know that they were telling the guys in India that they could advance and become part of the NY or London analyst classes, but I didn't see it happening. This was >10 years ago, but I'd be shocked if things have changed.

What do the Citi analysts in NY do then? Copy-editing for their Indian colleagues and Excel modelings and getting yelled at by MDs for mistakes made the guys in India?

Too late for second-guessing Too late to go back to sleep.

Yep, pretty much. Most of the BBs had India analysts available when I was in NYC. They were basically more functional pres tech guys.

One thing to think of to the OP - is the job doing outsourced work from NY/London or focused on local companies? If it is actual IB in India for Indian companies, that might be better. I believe that back in the day India used to get handled out of the EMEA group, although I could be wrong.

Actually, Citi India now is a dedicated India front office team of ~25 people which focuses on cross-border India M&A, India ECM and DCM. They have consistently remained among top 5 in Indian M&A league tables. However, I am been told that the culture/atmosphere is quite harsh, work hours are bad everywhere and that is what one signs for, but Citi it seems takes it to next level. Havent been able to get any validation on the culture and hours from the horse's mouth.
