Class Pass/Not Pass and Grad School

How is taking a class pass/not passed viewed by:

       1) Grad schools
       2) Future employers i.e. <abbr><abbr title="private equity">PE</abbr></abbr>

I am a senior now and am spending my next two years at a well known investement bank. My concern is I heard Grad schools consider Pass/Not pass C grades and want to see the weight this will have upon their decision. Will my two years work experience outweigh any complication with GPA, as I am hoping?

  • PS I have slightly abused the pass/not pass privalege so GPA would be noticably damaged if C's were factored in.

Thanks

probably not that big a deal if the class you took pass/fail was not relevant to the grad school subject. ie, if you're going to grad school for a MFE and took freshman english pass/fail, I don't think they'll care too much. If you were going for the same slot and took calc iv pass/fail, suspect they'd care. I think you can also get a note from the professor saying how you did.

I need proof before I can believe that.

I've never seen a school separate calc into 4 semesters...

Maybe it's for the remedial kids? Community college?

I know calc iv exists because a friend at michigan majoring in engineering had to take it, though my school does end at calc iii

if you insist on proof of the elitist variety, here you go champ: http://www.math.columbia.edu/~welji/teaching/06s/index.html
