The difference between successful people and others is largely a habit - a controlled habit of doing every task better, faster and more efficiently.

I have actually had mild success with this. I would prefer this over using a contact form on their website. One tip that I received is that it was my subject line that got my email read. I stick with a very formal, yet informative subject line such as "Internship Inquiry - University/College of BLANK Student - Students Name - TODAYS DATE", this seems to grab attention fairly well.

I've cold called about 30 banks in the Philly area in the last few weeks. Most said they weren't taking on anymore Summer interns but that there would be opportunities in the Fall. Whoever said previously it's a numbers game is right. Don't take the rejection personally and just keep chugging away.

I'm calling enough that I am going to make sure I have a Fall internship. It is essential to helping me land a FT analyst position at a MM or better company upon graduation so you gotta find a way to make it happen.

My name is Nicky, but you can call me Dre.

Were you calling actual bankers or the main line?

I try to call directors. I feel I can establish a rapport with them pretty easily and they are senior enough that they can move you along in the process if they like you or think you are qualified.

If I can't find their phone numbers on the website I just call the main reception line and asked to be transferred to their direct line. Reception usually doesn't object to this.

If I reach voicemail I leave a message and follow up a week later, maybe send an email as well.

Just think through this logically: who looks after a firm's general HR related e-mail? Some underpaid secretary/intern? Sending an email to the office equivalent of a black hole is a waste of time. Go after specific people instead.
