Colgate University for IB

Hello everyone, I recently had the privilege of being accepted into Colgate. My application was relatively very strong and I've been admitted to a few T20s, as well. However, I really like Colgate, and have an almost full-ride scholarship to attend. Would it be feasible to break into investment banking from Colgate? Please share your views and experiences regarding Colgate representation on Wall Street and alumni support. Thank you!

I'm a Colgate alum (Class of '08), who went through the OCR process and have been IB since graduating. I'd say that Colgate's presence on Wall Street has slightly waned over the past decade, but remains strong relative to other Liberal Arts schools. Barclays has the most Colgate alumni - Joe McGrath (Global Head of IB) is a strong proponent for the school.

Don't choose a school based on how many alumni get into a certain industry, but rather how well-positioned you think you would be for personal success / happiness. You're more likely to have a good outcome with a great GPA and extracurriculars at Colgate (/ wherever you're drawn) than if you're miserable at a T20 and it affects your grades / ambition. Colgate has a good rep and should get you where you need to go, which may not ultimately be investment banking (interests can and do evolve!)

Thank you to everyone for taking out time and giving opinions! Anyone else who can say something about this topic?
